Inherited Family Trauma
"Depression. Anxiety. Addiction. Chronic Pain. Physical Illnesses. Obsessive thoughts. The evidence is compelling: the roots of these issues may reside in the traumas of our ancestors. The latest research affirms that traumatic experience is passed on to future generations and that this emotional inheritance, hidden in everything from our gene expression to everyday language and behaviors plays a far greater role in our health than ever previously understood." -Mark Wolynn
Inherited Family Trauma (IFT) Therapy is a modality of healing that is based in the understanding that, as we are born into our family, we are inherently connected to every single person in that system, as well as all of the patterns and traumas that may exist within. When a significant event or "trauma" occurs within the family, it has a rippling impact within the system. When this trauma goes unhealed or is kept in the dark, the energy around this trauma festers in the field and will end up manifesting in later generations as unhealthy habits, fears, or patterns in order for it to be seen, acknowledged, and ultimately healed.
As a practitioner of IFT, I have been trained to utilize the tools of core language, somatic listening, and systemic questioning techniques to tap into the energetic family field of the client I am working with. Together we discover how the presenting issue is connected to a dynamic in the system that is needing to be seen and understood. Getting to a place where we can see things from a broader perspective allows for healing energy to begin to flow and the trauma to be released from the body. Ultimately, the client will learn how to become aware of the unhealthy patterns as they are arising while gaining tools to help them shift into a more centered and healthier way of being, bringing more vibrancy and empowerment into their lives.
